KITTING BOXES

KITTING BOXES
Many PCC Customers have ordered "customized" standard boxes with permanent dividers installed in special compartment designs to meet recurring production demands. This is done by bonding ABS dividers into ABS boxes. (Polyethylene boxes are not suitable for this purpose.) To order custom divider boxes, please use the following designing and ordering system:

1. Using "F" and "G" dimensions of a standard tote box (inside bottom length and width), lay out on graph paper a plan view of the box. If stacking boxes are to be used, note that a small area in each corner is not usable. When using l/4" graph paper, scale the drawing so that 1/4" equals 1-1/4", thus each line of graph paper will represent where a divider space falls on standard PCC boxes.

2. Draw a pencil line where dividers are desired. It is best, but not essential, to locate dividers at ribs of box.

3. Determine divider height. (A) Note that, if some or all of the dividers are higher than the highest part to be stored, standard boxes can be stacked without danger of damage to the stored part. Generally, it is preferable to have the dividers slightly lower than the part (B) in order to facilitate access. Dividers of various heights may be used in the same box. Note height on plan.4. Determine divider thickness ....060" is usually sufficient, but heavier stock may be required where dividers are high, compartments are large, or loads are very heavy.

4. Determine divider thickness ....060" is usually sufficient, but heavier stock may be required where dividers are high, compartments are large, or loads are very heavy.

5. Using the chart in the price list, compute divider price. (Dividers which extend less than the full length or width of the box cost the same as those which do.) To the divider price, add the box price and the assembly charge as noted in the price list for standard divider sets. Contact us for assembly charges on other configurations.

6. Submit your order, being sure to include a copy of your sketch. If you prefer, you may FAX your order directly to PCC at 313/568-0520.

7. OR, simply call us. Give us your parts specifications, weight limitations and other pertinent data.

8. After receipt of your FREE prototype (usually within days) advise us to modify or proceed. (If box is accepted, it will be included as part of your first order.)
